From the 27th till the 29th of November, the IRISC members Anja, Diego, Elrick and Kim where at ESTEC, the Netherlands, to obtain more information about the REXUS/BEXUS program and to present the IRISC experiment. On the first day we learned a lot about the REXUS/BEXUS program. This included the lessons learned from previous experiments, how to plan our project, risk management and how to write the objectives and requirements. Finally we had a workshop about these topics to get some hand on experience.
The second day the organiser and selection board of the REXUS/BEXUS program where introduced. These were representatives from SNSA (Swedish National Space Board), DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt), ESA (European Space Agency), SSC (Swedish Space Corporation), ZARM (Zentrum für angewandte Raumfahrttechnologie und Mikrogravitation) and MORABA (Mobile Rocket Base). After this the BEXUS teams, including IRISC, had to present their experiments. Our presentation can be found at the bottom of this page. Finally, all teams got a tour around the High Bay, Planetary Lab and a 3D virtual tour of the ISS.
On the third day the REXUS experiment were presented. After this we got more information about SSC, MORABA and ZARM, including what they can help us with during this program. All teams also got information about the preliminary design review (PDR), the next meeting with all teams that got accepted.
